Unless otherwise noted, rates are non-negotiable
**Sample edits will be provided for the first five pages only. No exceptions.
Returning clients receive a 10% loyalty discount**
Comprehensive Developmental Editing:
Includes line-by-line edits, storyline evaluation, detailed editorial notes, comprehensive character evaluations, and up to three rounds of revisions. Each round of revision will include a separate evaluation.
Any issues beyond the three rounds will be charged at the normal freelance editing rate of $35 per hour.
Flat rates have been determined by hours spent per edit based on wordcount, multiplied by three rounds at a deeply discounted rate. Easton has done this to make editing more affordable to a broad range of authors who would be unalbe to afford the hourly rate on large manuscripts. Keep in mind that three rounds of edits means that the editor reviews the manuscript THREE times--it does not mean three round-trips with the client which actually comes out to the editor seeing the manuscript four times.
(This is being explained for a reason, if you already understood, just roll with it.)
Flat rates broken down as follows:
Up to 20,000 Words: $199
21,000 words to 40,000 words: $388
41,000 words to 65,000 words: $596
66,000 words to 85,000: $722
86,000 Plus: $946
**Special circumstances such as releasing as a self-pub after obtaining rights back from a publisher. Because your novel has already been edited and most likely you are simply tweaking it by adding or changing scenes, only 2 rounds are necessary. Please contact me for the adjusted rate. I'm happy to work with you in this circumstance. Email email@example.com **
Book editing fees are due upon editor's receipt of the manuscript, payable via PayPal. For all manuscripts up to 40K, payment must be made in full at the time the manuscript is received. For larger manuscripts, 41k plus, the first half of payment is due immediately to begin, final payment is due six weeks from the contract signing date or the third round of edits, whichever comes first. An invoice will be sent at that time and final round will be held until payment is made. An editorial contract is provided to insure both parties' best interests are always protected and must be signed and completed with delivery of manuscript.
**For busy times of year like the holidays, a 50% deposit is needed at the time of contract signing to hold the client's space on the editor's schedule. The deposit obviously goes toward full balance owed.**
Business Editing (websites, manuals, direct marketing material):
$280 per project based on 8 hours. If the project term requires more than 1 day, a flat fee can be negotiated.
